Join host Kris Kington-Barker as she speaks with local drag artists with SLO Queerdos, CJ Gormley, also known as Rosé Aldé, Frank Dominguez, founder of SLO Queerdos, and Chaz Garza, also known as Juicy, Miss Central Coast Pride 2018 as they talk about drag culture and SLO Queerdos which is about finding your chosen family, making friends, and understanding that the artistic individual that lives deep inside you was meant to shine. 

Shawna & Sabrina talk to two badass community-building babes who hold space for spicy, glittery queens to flaunt their flawless fannies. Frankie & Krystal Methatic (that's her drag persona) share what it takes to build something from nothing, why they're doing it and what the greater vision for the Queerdos is growing into. The crew discusses performance, safe spaces, the greater conversation around gender & drag, being a community leader and a lot of other fun stuff!

One bar owner told SLOQueerdos that he didn’t want his establishment to be known as a gay bar, Dominguez said. One business in Santa Maria allowed SLOQueerdos to host an event there, but shut down the whole bar and called it a “private event.” 

Local LGBTQ group the SLO Queerdos will be putting on a Gaga-inspired drag show at 7 Sisters Brewing Company in order to raise money for Women’s March SLO.

"We want something that's more interactive for people," Gomez said. "That's what's missing in SLO."

There’s an emerging scene in San Luis Obispo it’s full of glitz, glam and everything in between.
It’s a drag scene, something that has been mostly foreign to the San Luis Obispo area until Frank Dominguez and Daniel Gomez decided to make a change.
Gomez and Dominguez created SLOqueerdos last year with a goal of creating more places for San Luis Obispo’s queer community to get together.
